Google Duo and Google Allo didn’t do quite well after a hyped launch last year. On Monday Google announced that it is rolling out Audio-only calls feature for Google Duo.
Google Allo and Duo head of Product, Amit Fulay tweeted on Monday,
The app was first launched back in August 2016 and promised a lot with being fairly light on the storage and its famous Knock Knock feature which would allow user to see the preview of the caller before attending it.
Last year, Google also replaced Hangouts with Google Duo as one of its pre-installed apps on Android smartphones.
Google Duo current version now features an audio-only call feature. Previously Duo’s call functionality was restricted to video only.
It’s not available in all regions just yet but 9to5Google notes that audio call-related terms can be found in Duo version 9’s strings, so the core structure is obviously there.
